The GLD Solvent Pen is used to finish repairs with Fluid Leather. After drying, the surface of Fluid Leather on smooth leather or synthetic leather is often not completely smooth. With the GLD Solvent Pen, the surface can be lightly dissolved and smoothed with the pen's felt tip.

Description

Sometimes, in the case of more extensive damage to smooth leather or synthetic leather surfaces, it is not possible to make the repair surface even and smooth by filling alone. In such cases, the GLD Pen must be used to finish the repair. The GLD Solvent in the pen dissolves the upper layer of the repair material so that the surface can be carefully finished. Dried Fluid Leather cannot be sanded, as this would damage the repaired area. Instead, the Fluid Leather would be sanded out of the filled area.

Application

 

Please read the notes below carefully before each application!

 

Open the cap of the GLD Solvent Pen and press the felt tip in several times to saturate the felt with GLD Solvent (see the instructional video below). If the felt becomes too wet, dab off the excess with a cloth. Then move it over the repaired area using light pressure to activate and smooth the surface, and allow it to dry again. Alternatively, after dissolving it with the GLD Pen, the repaired area can be finished using the Sanding Pad. Both methods serve to smooth the repair.

CAUTION: Please always work carefully and use only a small amount of GLD Solvent to avoid the repaired area becoming blurred and too much material being removed. It is possible at any time to repeat all work steps, including reapplying Fluid Leather. Allow it to dry in between. In this way, a repair can be shaped until the result is satisfactory. An authentic leather grain can only be reproduced by professional leather repair companies, but this is usually not necessary.
