On light, surface-dyed smooth leather or artificial leather, discolouration from jeans, belts, bags or pens can occur. If this discolouration is not removed promptly through cleaning, the dyes penetrate the surface. GLD-Solvent is a solvent with which an attempt can be made to remove such discolouration when gentler cleaners have been unsuccessful.

Description
GLD is an excellent cleaner for stubborn discolouration caused, for example, by jeans, belts, bags or pens on pigmented smooth leather and artificial leather. It slowly dissolves the surface and thus removes dyes that have penetrated into the top coat or colour layer.
Application
Please read the instructions below carefully before each application!
Before using the GLD solution, first attempt cleaning with Leather Cleaner strong.
If this attempt is unsuccessful, apply some GLD-Solvent to a microfibre cloth and carefully clean the surface using little pressure. Some surfaces can be easily «dissolved» (furniture leather), while others react less strongly to GLD (automotive leather, artificial leather).
CAUTION: Careless work with GLD-Solvent can quickly make the problem worse.
Using GLD-Solvent dissolves the upper leather colour layer. When attempting to remove discolouration, some leather colour may also dissolve. You can then see the discolouration on the cloth. It is important to proceed carefully so as not to remove the colour layer completely. If colour is removed or the discolouration cannot be completely removed, these areas must be recoloured with the matching Leather Fresh. Before cleaning with GLD-Solvent, roughened areas should be smoothed with the Leather Polishing Pad 4000 grit.
In most cases, the GLD solution is sufficient and no colour adjustment is required. The heavier the discolouration, the less likely it is that the work can be completed without a colour adjustment using Leather Fresh. Artificial leather is more difficult to clean than leather.
To prevent further colour transfer, surfaces should be protected regularly with Leather Shield. Among other things, this product reduces the penetration of dyes into the surfaces. As a precaution, all contact surfaces that have not yet been affected should also be treated with this sealant. Always first clean all surfaces with Leather Cleaner mild or strong.
