Description

When repairing tears in leather, a stable backing is essential to achieve a durable and clean result. The backlining cloth serves as a backing material that is glued beneath the tear from the rear and gives it the necessary stability before the actual repair is carried out with Fluid Leather or leather glue. The approximately 15 x 25 cm piece is generously sized and is sufficient to reliably back several centimetres of tears.

Application

Cut the cloth to the appropriate size with an overlap and mark the centre with a highlighter or small sticker. The marking makes it easy to see where the centre is so that the overlap is even everywhere. Secure the centre with a needle and use a spatula to smooth the edges beneath the leather. Then glue it in place.

The backlining cloth is also available as a set with leather glue and mini brushes.
