Eliminating annoying squeaking noises in vehicles and on furniture

Why have creaking noises increased?

In recent years, noise levels in vehicles have decreased significantly due to more modern engines and better insulation. At the same time, the proportion of moving parts has increased considerably. Adjustable seats, cup holders, toggle switches, trim parts: all of these can cause potential disturbing noises when they rub. In the furniture sector, too, the number of adjustment functions has increased, and even classic upholstery can creak through friction against covers or frames.

Normal leather or artificial-leather care products do not help here. Some products, especially those containing wax, even make the problem worse.

“PEOX” glide paste and “LEISOL” anti-creak cream

Through many years of collaboration with the luxury segment of the automotive industry, we have developed a specialised anti-creak range. The two products cover different areas of application:

“LEISOL” anti-creak cream for visible surfaces

A liquid sliding coating in a pump spray. Suitable for all contact surfaces that are visible or can rust:
leather, artificial leather, plastic, metal. Dries transparent and is effective in the long term.

Cleaning: Excess residue can be removed with a cloth moistened with hot water.

“PEOX” glide paste for concealed areas

A transparent water-based paste applied thinly to contact points like a lubricant, but with a durable protective film instead of one-off lubrication. Ideal for rails, joints, fastening points and other concealed contact points. Use “LEISOL” instead on surfaces that can rust or are visible.

Cleaning: Excess residue can be removed with a cloth moistened with hot water.

Preparation

First, the point generating the disturbing noises must be found. It often helps to search in pairs. One person creates the movement and the other tries to locate the point.

It is best to expose the area causing the noise. To do this, parts may need to be dismantled.

Clean the area before application.

“PEOX” is the first choice. If the surfaces are unsuitable because they are visible, or inaccessible for the paste, use “LEISOL”.

Rub “PEOX” into a cloth and apply it. Allow it to dry. “LEISOL” can be sprayed on or applied with a cloth. Allow it to dry before reassembly.

CAUTION: “PEOX” can cause rust on corrosive surfaces. Do not apply it to acrylic glass or safety-relevant parts (braking systems, etc.) either.
