Description

Old automotive leather places special demands on care – decades of use, changing temperatures, and a lack of or inadequate care leave their mark. The leather fibres stick together, the material hardens, becomes brittle, and is susceptible to cracks and breaks. Especially in classic and modern classic cars, where the original leather interior makes up a significant part of the vehicle's value and character, professional care is particularly important. The Classic Car Leather Care Set was developed precisely for these requirements.

Application

Please read the notes below carefully before each use!

Cleaning:

  • Fill the foamer bottle with Leather Cleaner mild and apply some foam to a sponge or the brush. Never apply the cleaner directly to the leather.
  • Clean the leather from seam to seam using circular motions and repeat the process if necessary. Remove the dirt and cleaner residues with a damp cloth, then allow it to dry.

Old Leather Softener

  • Only begin the treatment with Old Leather Softener once the leather has dried completely after cleaning.
  • Apply some of the oil to the second sponge or a clean cloth from the set and wipe the leather with it.
  • After application, leave the leather to rest at room temperature for at least 24 hours so that the leather oil has time to soak into the leather.
  • IMPORTANT: Do not expose the vehicle to direct sunlight or excessive cold. Do not carry out more than 3 treatments. Clean off excess Old Leather Softener with Leather Cleaner mild. Proceed as described under «1. Cleaning».

Re-oiling and deep care

  • For subsequent care, take up some grease with another cloth from the set and first rub it into the cloth.
  • Use the greased cloth to apply a thin layer to the leather and polish afterwards if a shine is desired.
  • At cold temperatures, Elephant Preserver leather grease is not easy to work with. Therefore, work at pleasant temperatures or warm the leather grease slightly with a hairdryer.
  • With regular but sparing follow-up care thereafter, further treatments with Old Leather Softener are not necessary.
  • IMPORTANT: Depending on use, it is better to care for the leather sparingly every 6 to 12 months rather than rarely and then overdosing!

Notes

  • Always first test products in a concealed area for changes.
  • Care and protective products should always be applied to a clean surface.
  • Shake products before use. 
  • Protect products from frost and heat (+40 °C) 
  • Observe the hazard symbols on the bottles, if present.
